Loin puller

Designed to remove skin on the back fat of a bone, the Loin Puller is manually controlled by a joystick adjusted by an operator viewing the loin through the machine, or by a sophisticated vision system controlling knife position. The vision system will be able to receive instructions and take decisions about the thickness of the fat staying on a particular type of loin (size of muscle, color, etc.)The "U" shape knife is easily removable and uses disposable blades that can be easily changed whitin few minutes.

Construction :

  • SS 304 frame, the ajustables parts are also made of SS.

  • electric motor coupled with two speed reducers

  • ss chains and sprockets with a variable frequency drive.

  • Hydraulic and pneumatic components enclosed in a ss box

  • A NEMA 4X control box holds all the electrical components and is supplied with switches and circuit breaker.

  • All mechanical parts are located on the side of the main conveyor.

  • Security switches, shields and covers are added for personal safety.

  • SS Bearings with nylon parts and polymer housing.

  • The equipment can be run in automatic or manual mode:

    • PLC controller Omron
    • Industrial computer with acquisition card ans camera
  • Task performed by the future vision system :
    • Acquire pictures of the loin's side
    • Process the images to determine the thickness of the fat
    • transfer the datas to the knife's hydraulic valve to set the cutting depth
